Play Date

Ty had another play date today with {one of} his girlfriend{s}, M.  They had a fun time at the basketball court.  Ty chased after some of the big kids, and he was so fast he actually kept up with them running around.  He and M had a fun time playing together. They're just so cute together!

Ty loves M!
Mr. Cutie

Chasin' after the big kids.

Precious.

They decided to swap toys with each other.
Melt my heart!

Patch

I got a Facebook invite for a Patch reunion next spring.  Obviously, I won't be able to go since we'll still be in Okinawa and there's no way I'm forking over a few grand just to see a bunch of kids from high school reminisce on the old days and get 12 kinds of crazy.  For those of you who don't know, Patch was a pretty small school compared to most high schools in the states. We're talking grades 7-12 (yes, middle school was included) about 500 kids... TOTAL. I think we had like 82 graduating seniors in my class from '03, and at that point, that was the biggest class to ever graduate from the school.

I kind of can't help but chuckle at those who are planning to attend the reunion.  For the most part, Facebook allows most of us to keep in touch, or just stalk those people we're "friends" with on a regular basis. You know, check out their latest photos, see who they're married to/or if they're still single, how many kids they've popped out, whether they went to college or not, working a "grown-up" job/or not, and basically just a quick summary of what is going on in their lives.  Even people I really don't ever talk to, or really plan to talk to, but am "friends" with... just because I guess, I kinda know a lot about what's been going on in their lives. Good ole' Facebook!

I guess Facebook kind of takes away the "excitement" and "anticipation" of a reunion since everyone already knows what is going on with the majority of people they went to school, with maybe the exception of a few who don't use it regularly (and they probably wouldn't go to the reunion then anyway).  Fun idea, but I can already see it... a bunch of kiddos reminiscing on the good ole' days, getting rowdy and partying like they were 18 again.

Hats!

I ordered a couple of crochet hats from a lady on island to use for Ty's upcoming photo shoot.  They turned out fabulous and I just had to try it on to see if it fit. There's even some room for growing!  It's absolutely adorable and I can't wait to get some professional photos done now that he's sitting up!

Also, the yearly 909th Boo Treats are going around and whoever left me the bag of goodies this year included an adorable Jack-o-Lantern hat.  It's meant for an adult, but I had to put it on Ty! He's an adorable little pumpkin if I must say so myself!

He's a man {boy} of many hats and there are more in the works! It was my first weekend to spend with him completely to myself {Joe's out of town} and we had a great time playing, cuddling, shopping, and hangin' around the house. He's a great buddy to have around! <3
On the move!
Whoooooo's cute? Me!

8 months old

Ok, photo shoots are much harder these days - he's such a busy body he doesn't want to sit still or smile for the camera long enough for me to capture it!

Haha, his thoughts about taking pictures!

<3

I find this hilarious because you can't tell if he's laughing or crying. He was in the middle of a big ole' belly laugh! <3
Time just keeps on flying by... I feel like I blinked and now he's 8 months old.  He is my pride and joy and I cherish every moment with him! He is growing up so fast and I am loving every new stage.

At 8 months Ty is...

-around 22 lbs
-wearing size 3 diapers
-outgrowing his 9 month clothes/fitting into 12 month clothes
-has the chubbiest little feet that most shoes don't fit him
-sitting up on his own
-has his 2 bottom teeth
-rolling over both ways (finally)
-discovered his feet and loves grabbing and tugging at them
-scooting backwards!
-highly interested in the dogs - giggles at them when they wrestle with each other
-is a mad man in his walker - can scoot around so dang fast!
-{finally} taking 2 naps in his crib - usually a 1 hour morning and afternoon nap
-discovered how to bang things
-eats solids 3x a day; still prefers fruits over veggies; LOVES puffs and can successfully grab and put them in his mouth by himself
-back to sleeping through the night - most nights 12 hour spurts! {YAY!}
-still using a paci every now and then; knows how to find it and put it in his mouth by himself
-using his big boy convertible Britax car seat and big boy stroller!

Dress-Up

The last two Halloween's, Joe's been gone.   It wasn't really a big deal, Halloween isn't that big of a holiday.  However, this year I was looking forward to getting Ty dressed up and taking him around the block.  He will undoubtedly get lots of "Oooh's and Ahhhh's" because he is the cutest stinkin' baby ever (okay, slightly biased opinion).  But alas, Halloween is quickly approaching and they sent Joe on a trip. He might be back, but with those old jets, I won't count on it.

Soooo, we did a little bit of dress-up so I could get Ty and Joe in their flight suits together. A-dor-able!!! Okay, so Ty isn't his typically happy-go-lucky self in the pictures.  This was right before he was due for a nap and obviously did not want to play dress-up or smile for any of the pictures (a few half smiles but that was it)!  Hopefully I'll get some better ones on Halloween!

Like father, like son!

A-dor-able!
Stud!

This face just melts my heart!!!! <3

It's been a minute...

Okay! I completely fail when it comes up keeping an updated blog. There just aren't enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do! I've always had a love/hate relationship with jobs.  When I'm not working, I long for something to keep me busy.  My house will be immaculately clean, the dogs will have been exercised and played with, the fridge will be fully stocked with yumminess for all the recipes I'd planned to make for the week, but then I get bored and there is nothing good on TV during the week days.

When I get a job, I find myself with zero free time to do any of the above.  My house is usually 12 kinds of messy, the dogs are completely neglected (especially when you throw a baby in the mix, they really are on the back burner these days), I end up having to go to the commissary on the weekends - and I HATE going on the weekends when everyone and their moms are there! We generally end up getting fast food 1-2x a week because we don't have the energy to think of something to cook, or don't have all the ingredients. The piles of laundry add up quickly {especially Ty's...  and his clothes are tiny! How does THAT happen?!} forcing me to use my precious weekends to do laundry {and commissary shopping} and half-ass (excuse the language) clean my house.

I find myself more hating the whole working thing even more now that Ty is getting to be at a really fun age.  He's back to sleeping through the night {hallelujah!} and is such a happy guy!  He's learning new things and changing daily and it's hard to not be with him every second of the day!  My job is rewarding, I love seeing my kiddos learn new things and get excited about school.  I know I'm a vital part of teaching them a lot of the fundamentals they will need for the rest of their lives {gulp-no pressure, really!}.  First grade is challenging and I find myself biting my tongue a lot more than I did last year. I mean, really, do you need to cry because the kid next to you looked at you? They're sweet and cute and I adore them, but sometimes 20 six/seven year olds is a big much!

When I'm not... telling kids to stop picking their nose, helping them tie their shoes (I'm pretty sure I knew how to tie my shoes in kindergarten! AND I knew my first and last name and how to write/spell it, but apparently kids these days DON'T!), breaking up petty arguments, reminding kids that they need to keep their hands and feet to themselves - at all times - even if you're just playing, having yet another fire-drill/earthquake drill/evacuation drill/lock-down drill, remember to take them to their specials/lunch/library/computer lab/pull-out services on time ... I try to squeeze in time to teach them things! It's a challenge almost 99% of the time I don't get to everything I had in my lesson plans, I some how manage to teach them what they need to know, cover the standards, and see them learn and grow.

My big plan is to teach this year and when we move back next year, to be a SAHM until Ty goes to preschool (or we decide to have another Baby B) and just take the time to relax and enjoy myself and my family. I love working, saving up the extra money, and working with kids, but I'm getting burnt out... and guess what, we've only been in school for 29 {school} days. Yikes!

I'll blog more later with personal updates and how Ty is, but it's 8:37am and I have an inkling he's about to wake-up soon! Catch ya on the flip side!

7 months old

I can't believe he's 7 months old... where is the time going?! It seems like Ty is such a big boy these days!!!

At 7 months he is...

-sitting up by himself for long periods of time
-has 2 bottom teeth
-wearing size 3 diapers
-wearing (just about outgrowing) size 9 month clothing
-barely fits into any shoes because his tootsies are too chubby
-eats stage 2 solids 2x a day
-LOVES fruits, especially pears, pineapple, strawberry and apples
-Dislikes peas and most green veggies (just like his mama!)
-started supplementing with formula 1-2x a day
-has the best little belly laughs when we play peek-a-boo and make big smiley faces at him
-has taken interest in the dogs; loves to stick his hand out and let Kella lick his hand
-enjoys playing "Go Fetch" game... where he throws his toys off the bumbo tray and we go fetch them for him.
-still enjoys time in his jumperoo and walker; can scoot on the carpet now by himself
-not sleeping through the night thanks to Mr. Teething Monster
-takes 2-3 naps a day
-enjoys chewing on anything and everything he can get his hands onto
-on the verge of outgrowing his Graco snugride carseat... time for his big boy car seat and stroller!!!

Ty, you are such a blessing and we love you so much!!!

7 months old - what a charmer!

<3!!!
